         ABOUT US

THE MONTICELLO HS ORCHESTRA PROGRAM

The Monticello Orchestra Program continues to work and develop as an ensemble of trully gifted musicians who devote their time to express their voices through the art of music. Our focus is to develop a high level of artistry through the study of the wonderful orchestral literature that has been left by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelsohn, Tchaikovsky and many others.  We also love to explore folkloric music from South America, Africa, and Asia as there is a great deal to learn from other cultures. Our rehearsals are spent working through the parts making connections of the various conversations taking place in the music and the character we want to convey in the music. Each of us become actors, supporting actors, celebrities, obesevers, and above all- active listeners. The making of true chamber music is our daily goal. The conductor is only there to guide, coach, and be part of a wonderful family of musicians. We have a lot of fun making music together.  We work on a democratic environment where every voice count. We select the repertoire together and make many musical desitions together as well. Any student who becomes part of our wonderful orchestra will find themselves making music, learning, and having fun with a great group of people that share something in common-Love for music.
